I have been looking for quite some time for the perfect bag for my Fuji X system. I knew exactly what I wanted the bag to be, but it seemed impossible for me to find it.
Here are the criteria:
- Messenger style bag
- Tripod holder on the bottom
- Grab handle
- Not taller than 8"
- Not deep, needs to lay flat
- At least 4 compartments for camera plus lenses
- Other pockets for phone, cables and filters
- Possibly a padded compartment for my iPad Mini
It seemed impossible to find.
Sure, Timbuk2 makes a great messenger style bag with a photographic insert and tripod holder, but their camera bag is way too fat and way too tall and the padded insert is stiff, so it doesn't conform to your hip at all. Plus the internal organization is sub-par, there is hardly room for anything else other than a couple of memory cards.
All the other camera bag manufacturers do NOT add tripod straps to their mirrorless bags, because mirrorless bags are - as we all know - ONLY used my street photographers which do not use tripods. Yes, sure. Whatever.
So finally I stumbled across the *Golla Pro Messenger Bag "Riley". Tripod straps? Check. Grab handle? Check. Low profile? Check. Pockets galore? Check. Four padded areas for lenses? Check. iPad compartment? Check. There is room for everything, and everything is organized. There are even pockets on the outside of the removable insert. They thought of everything. It's light, has a waterproof lid, zippers and bottom, is padded, doesn't have a garish colour and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg either. There are a few minor issues, such as the stiff straps and a few stitches out of place, but for the most part, it's the perfect bag. I think we'll be happy for a while.
